P'nai Or is a unique congregation which grew in response to our search for innovative approaches to Jewish prayer, learning and celebration. Philadelphia P'nai Or was founded in the early 80's by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi along with students and colleagues who envisioned a new form of intentional Jewish community. Here Jewish teachers and learners would co-create contemporary forms of Jewish statement in a dynamic relationship to Torah, Hasidic prayer and teaching, the Jewish mystical tradition, meditation and current approaches in psychology and personal growth.

P'nai Or Religious Fellowship of Philadelphia Celebrates the High Holy Days
Our community gathers every year for the High HolyDays in the upstairs Fellowship Hall of Summit Church on Greene St. near the corner of Westview in West Mt. Airy.
Our services are alive! Our style is deeply meaningful, passionate, fun, musical, and particpatory. We blend traditional liturgy and melodies with new insights, and of course you'll find Hebrew and English poetically intertwined. Expect many opportunities for personal reflection, meditation and guided sharing.
Selichot: This late evening Saturday night gathering is actually the opening service of the Holy Days and begins the personal and commmunal process of t'shuvah.
Erev Rosh Hashana: A short festive gathering for the whole community: singing, davenen', candle-lighting and apples & honey. 6:00pm - 8pm
